Sat next to the posies Sunday for the church Stampede Breakfast. T'was literally a buzz with fuzzy honey bees covered in pollen. Come say hi! #yyc . . #vinyl #recordfair #recordcollector #cratedigging #vinyljunkie #vinylcollector #yycevents #comingsoon We visit family in Creston BC once or twice a year, and everytime I'm out here I'm on the lookout for some local fiber, but to date I haven't found any. Until yesterday! The husband discovered a beautiful independent shop, @flyinthefibre, and then he TOOK ME THERE 🤣 It's a gorgeous space with yarn, fiber, felt, and more, as well as a cafe and project space - where they hold weekly knit nights on Tuesday - and more and more. Fantastic selection of Canadian and international yarns and fibers, great coffee and treats, wonderful space, and a friendly, helpful owner. . . And I finally have some local yarn! Kootenay-based @riverstoneyarns is new to me but I'm already a fan. Super soft, squishy yarn in beautiful color combinations that I don't see very often. I picked up a skein of a 75/20/5 sw merino/nylon/silver stellina blend in the colorway Gold Rush, and a skein of a plush 80/10/10 sw merino/cashmere/nylon blend in the colorway Stars Over Sorrento. I can't wait to knit these up 😄 . . I couldn't believe how scrumptious the local fiber is, either. I may not be the most accomplished drop spinner yet, but I had to have this corridale/silk blend in this simply heavenly colorway, Firestorm, by Andrea of Fly In The Fibre. So rich and sparkly, I need a spinning wheel, STAT. . . If you're passing through Creston, or on vacation like me, do not miss this wonderful shop.
